INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND

Viropac® has been developed by Colourlock Industries Ltd, a New Zealand company experienced in antibacterial and antimicrobial product development, specifically for national pandemic planning to enable countries to be prepared to manage an influenza pandemic. Forward planning for pandemic preparedness helps to reduce transmission of the pandemic virus strain, to decrease cases, hospitalisations and deaths, to maintain essential services and to reduce the economic and social impact of a pandemic.

Viropac® is a Hospital Grade disinfectant with proven efficacy against a wide range of viruses and bacteria including Bird Flu H5N1 & H1N1, Salmonella choleraesuis, Campylobacter, E. coli 0157:H7, Listeria, Hong Kong (Influenza), Hepatitis B & C, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, HIV/AIDS, Herpes Simplex Type 1 & 2 and many other common bacteria and viruses. Viropac® is safe to use. It is non-corrosive, non-flammable, non-bleaching and contains no phosphates, phenolics, chlorine or dangerous glutaraldehydes.

Viropac® is biodegradable, extremely economic to use and has a shelf life of over 10 years.

Viropac® continues to inhibit viral and bacterial growth for up to 4 hours after drying on surfaces.

Viropac® ECONOMIC TO USE

A flu pandemic is predicted to last up to 90 days, so all organisations need to assemble resources to respond for this length of time.

5-litres of Viropac® concentrate makes 250 litres of Viropac® spray solution effective against the H5N1 bird flu.

It is estimated that 5-litres of Viropac® concentrate will be sufficient for up to 10 office users or one residential home during the 90 days of a flu pandemic.

How Flu Spreads:

1. By Air - Passed from person to person through the air by breathing in air containing droplets or aerosols containing the virus produced when an infected person talks, coughs or sneezes.

Many viruses including H5N1 remain alive on surfaces for many hours after contamination.
